Bicycle   1839

The first two-wheeled vehicle to include pedals was invented in 1839 by Kirkpatrick MacMillan, a Scottish blacksmith. Known as the MacMillan velocipede, it was unique in that, until then, riders were expected to propel themselves by pushing their feet against the ground, a la Fred Flintstone.
