Roller Skates   1819

The first known use of roller skates was in London during a stage performance in 1743, though the inventor remains unknown. The first patented skate was in France by inventor M. Petitbled in 1819, though they more closely resembled today’s inline skates. New Yorker James Plimpton designed the first four-wheel version of the roller skate in 1863.
